How to apply for the Language ED Visa in Thailand
#1 School Registration
Students are required to visit the school in person to complete registration. Please bring the following:
- Your passport
- Thai phone number
- Passport-sized photo (Size 2” inch or 3.5 cm. x 4.5 cm. , White background)
- Tuition fee
- TM -30 (Can send later)
Our school will help the submission of the documents to the Ministry of Education on your behalf. The approval letter is typically processed within 20- 30days. Once it is ready, the student can collect the approval letter from the school to proceed with ED visa application.
#2 ED Visa Application
- School will give appointment to students to pick up the documents. Student can pick up at school around 1pm to 5pm on the appointment date
- After getting the documents, student must submit the document at Government Complex on the appointment date the school give within 10 am to 12pm
- Required documents : TM - 30, Visa Document from School, Passport, Thai Phone Number, Visa Fee 2000 Baht
- Photo Appointment at School: Immigration officers may conduct photo appointments at the school with short notice. We recommend that you remain in Bangkok during this period
- ED Visa Stamp at Immigration Office: Please attend your scheduled appointment at the immigration office to receive your ED visa stamp. Kindly bring your passport and the appointment (blue) receipt
- Submit Passport to the School: After receiving your visa stamp, please send the photo od visa page in the school line group for visa extension processing.
#3 Important Notes
- Your ED visa validity period begins from the date you submit your documents at the immigration office.
- The immigration processing time is approximately 16 days. (to get the visa stamp after application)
- Please ensure you are dressed appropriately when visiting the immigration office.
Visa Extension (TM 7)
90-Day Reporting (TM 47)
All foreigners staying in Thailand for more than 90 days are required to report their residential address every 90 days to immigration.
The first 90-day report is usually completed during your visa extension process. You will receive a notification receipt indicating
your next reporting date—please keep this for future reference.
From the second report onward, you must submit your report within 15 days before the due date or up to 7 days after at the Immigration Office.
REQUIREMENTS
- TM 47 form
- TM 30 form
- Previous 90-day reporting receipt
ADDITIONAL NOTES
If you live in the Bangkok provinces, you must report to the Government Complex
If you reside in Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, or Pathum Thani, you must report to the immigration office in your respective area
When you re-enter Thailand, your 90-day reporting period resets from your new arrival date
Failure to complete the 90-day report will result in a 2,000 THB fine
Immigration office hours: Monday - Friday at 8:30 - 16:00
TM.30
The TM.30 form is required when applying for a visa, visa extension, and 90-day reporting in Thailand.
Property owners or landlords are legally required to report foreign residents to Immigration, so students must obtain a TM.30 receipt from their landlord before proceeding with any visa-related process.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Your registered address must be within the Bangkok Metropolitan Region (Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, or Pathum Thani).
- You must update your TM.30 if your check-out date expires or if you change your residence.
- The check-in date must be updated whenever you receive a new entry stamp in your passport.
- The check-out date should have at least 30 days remaining when applying for a visa, visa extension, or 90-day report.
- For convenience, we recommend setting your check-out period between 6 months to 1 year.
Re-Entry Permit for ED Visa
Before leaving Thailand, you must apply for a re-entry permit to keep your ED visa valid. Without it, your visa will be automatically canceled upon departure. The school will provide a recommendation letter for your travel. Please inform the school at least 7 days in advance, including your departure date and intended re-entry date to Thailand.
Application Fees
Single re-entry permit: 1,000 – 1,500 THB
Multiple re-entry permit: 3,800 THB
Where to Apply
Government Complex if you live in Bangkok, Or
If you reside in Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, or Pathum Thani, you must report to the immigration office in your respective area. Or
At Passport Control (International Departures) at the airport on your departure day

- Completed TM.8 application form (with a photo size 4 x 6 cm, taken within the last 6 months)
- Recommendation letter from School
- Copies of passport pages, including: Bio-data page, Passport expiry page, Latest entry stamp Extension of stay stamp (if applicable), Departure card (TM.6) (if available)
Visa Cancellation (ED Visa Thailand)
To avoid any issues, please ensure your ED visa is properly cancelled before leaving Thailand. If you have completed at least one visa extension, you are required to cancel your visa before leaving Thailand. However, if you have not applied for any visa extension, visa cancellation is not necessary.
You can apply for visa cancellation at the immigration office up to 20 days in advance of your departure.
